Kat's Card - she decided that she really liked this paper from the Petals & Paisley DS paper that SU! retired last year. She really liked the blues and greens together and she had a thing for the more retro style. Kat used Old Olive cardstock for the base and layered the DS onto the card. She used the direct to paper technique to put Tempting Turqouise on the Old Olive square of paper and to then reverse the colors on the Tempting Turquoise square. It is a little hard to see in the picture but the white square has Tempting Turquoise on 2 sides and Old Olive on the other 2. She really wanted the squares to not be lined up perfectly so she layered them at a slant. There is a small flower gem glued to the flower in the middle of the paisley.

My Card - I used the same Old Olive base, but I used different patterned paper from the Petals & Paisley DS paper. I chose Old Olive and So Saffron as my coordinating colors. I also used the direct to paper technique to add some texture to my squares. I opted to go tone-on-tone and added So Saffron to my main image. I chose to turn my main image on its side from the sketch we were working from. I really like how this looks. I stamped the polka dots in So Saffron and used Summer Sun for the flower and Old Olive for the stem. The saying is stamped in Always Artichoke so it would stand out from the stem a little bit. I glued a small green gem to the base of the flower to just add a little bling...which is a fairly new thing for me, so I'm taking baby-steps with it...

I have to say this is also the first project that I used my new Scor-Pal on and I can't believe it took me so long to get one! It scored perfectly everytime and I didn't have to pull out a ruler and stylus...talk about quick and easy! I can see this becoming a favorite tool quickly!!
